Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California

Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Project Manager of Public Works Projects, with a Wet-Utilities emphasis, to join our team in San Mateo County/Bay Area.  

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers in all aspects of the design of projects including the plans, specifications, and estimate preparation for public works projects with a focus on utility improvements including water distribution and storage, waste water collection, and storm drainage systems for public agencies. 
  • Lead, assign, and review work of project delivery team; check work and progress and identify changes of scope and additional services. 
  • Mentor, support and provide technical direction to other engineers. 
  • Develop and oversee project budgets and schedules. 
  • Cultivate and maintain client relationships. 
  • Lead project pursuit efforts including proposal and interview preparation Participate as a visible and active member of the Public Works/Utility Communities through professional organization involvement. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited college or university (Note: While a degree in Environmental Engineering is not required, candidate should have strong knowledge of potable water and waste water treatment regulations).  
  • Current PE California License is required. 
  • Minimum of 15 years of public works/Utilities experience with increasing levels of supervisory responsibility. 
  • Strong track record of overseeing successful project delivery. 
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license is required. 
  • Strong communication skills including proposal writing and presentation skills. 
  • Experience in coordinating with regulatory agencies. 
  • Experience in the administration and management of public works projects. 

Working Conditions

  • Observe safety principles and work in a safe manner. 
  •  Be able to respond to emergency situations and work occasional evenings and weekends, as required. 
  • Must be able to walk in and through job sites for extended periods. 
  • Will drive to job sites and to visit clients. 
  • Work with detailed, finely printed technical documents.
