The Senior Transportation Engineer is responsible for the planning, management, supervision, and coordination of professional engineering work related to the planning, design, and construction of various public works projects including safe routes to schools, bicycle and pedestrian improvements, complete streets, pavement rehabilitation, trail improvements, intersections and roadways, and wet utilities. The Senior Transportation Engineer leads multiple concurrent public works projects; supervises project staff, activities and tasks; coordinates project development and progress with clients; and provides technical support to internal and external stakeholders.

We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Engineer – Transportation Design to join our team in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento Area.


  • Manage and direct a team of engineers, technicians and related professionals in the preparation of engineering plans, specifications and construction documents.
  • Provide professional and engineering support to the design teams.
  • Administer public works contracts.
  • Direct engineering staff in performance of complex engineering work for public works projects and programs.
  • Coordinate project development activities with all stakeholders including, but not limited to, the project team, field personnel, agency staff, utility companies, consultants and contractors.
  • Work closely with clients and group leads.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


  • 8+ years of progressively challenging engineering experience.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) license from the State of California.
  • Proven track record in successful completion of public works transportation projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
