Senior Human Resources Generalist

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California


The Sr. HR Generalist reports to the Human Resources Director. The position will act as a back up to the HR Director to resolve benefits related problems and employee-related issues and ensure effective use of techniques and positive employee relations. The Sr. HR Generalist is collaborative and has an open and friendly work style. The position works independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to manage and complete a wide variety of activities within deadlines and use discretion in handling confidential matters.


  • Provide HR support across the company.
  • Recruiting
    • Publish CSG’s profile on job boards and with recruiters.
    • Perform and/or participate in job interviews.
    • Prepare, review, and send offer letters to job candidates.
    • Assist with new hire training and orientation.
  • Benefits and HR transactions
    • Process employment actions and changes in the HR systems (Oracle Fusion and ADP Workforce Now).
    • Respond to employees’ questions and requests.
    • Oversee HR company Intranet content.
    • Collaborate with managers to maintain job descriptions.
    • Responsible for providing hands-on management and direction for the day-to-day operations and administration of the benefits area, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, FSA, commuter benefits, and 401K.
    • Ensure benefits compliance and reporting needed by State and Federal agencies in conjunction with support from benefits brokers.
    • Process and maintain benefits enrollments and changes in ADP Workforce Now.
    • Act as a liaison between employee, brokers, and insurance providers to resolve benefits issues.
    • Project lead for open enrollment in coordination with insurance brokers and HR Director.
    • ADP plans setup during open enrollment, respond to employees’ and vendors’ requests, approve open enrollment changes in ADP.
    • Reconcile monthly carrier billings and prepare payment requests.
    • Manage and track all leave of absences.
    • Respond to EDD requests.
    • Handles all mandatory State or Federal reporting and filing such as the EEO-1 and the CA pay data reporting.
    • Leads and assists with HRIS systems implementations.
    • Ensure HRIS data integrity. Pull reports and audit HR data.
  • HR Policies and Procedures
    • Maintain the employee handbook.
    • Stay current with laws, regulations, and creations of policies.
    • Provide HR guidance to employees and managers, with regards to benefits and company policies.
  • Employee Separations
    • Coordinate with managers on offboarding process.
    • Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback to supervisors.
  • Oversees Worker’s Compensation: submit and follow-up on all claims, WC audit, annual reporting.
  • Assist in the annual 401(k) audit.
  • Assist with HR systems maintenance, trouble shooting and act as project lead in the implementations of new HRIS systems when needed.
  • May assist with company events: annual meeting, holiday party and picnic.
  • Assist HR Director in planning and administering of existing and future wellness programs, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business or Organizational Development from an accredited college or university.
  • 6+ years of HR Generalist/Analyst experience.
  • Strong understanding of human resources processes.
  • Proficient with, or the ability to, quickly learn the organization’s human resource management software and practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws.
  • Must be able to work independently or with a team and manage a diversified workload with a high level of discretion.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS office.
  • Advanced Excel Skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas…).
  • Proficient with HRIS systems, Oracle Fusion (preferred) and ADP Workforce Now (is a must).
  • Previous experiencing in implementing HRIS systems is highly desired.
  • Accurate attention to detail and office organizational skills.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, and dependable.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast past environment.

  • Desire to learn with natural initiative and curiosity.
  • Friendly and persistent style in working with employees.

Working Conditions

  • General office environment.
  • Require standing, bending, sitting, walking, twisting and turning.
  • Occasional overtime work is required throughout the year.
  • May require lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Majority of the time is spent sitting/standing at a desk.
