Engineering Designer

Location: Southern California, California


We are seeking a highly qualified Engineering Designer to join our team in Southern California (Orange and/or Inland Empire offices).  

The Engineering Designer position is responsible for professional engineering work related to the design, construction, and land development review of various public works’ projects. Under general supervision by supervisory or management personnel, the Engineering Designer assists engineering staff with various tasks by utilizing design-aided technology and equipment for office and field assignments projects. 


  • Prepare plans and specifications for the construction of public works’ projects. 
  • Compile and review engineering data for reports and studies. 
  • Prepare and/or review maps, plats, calculations, and field measurements. 
  • Update and maintain engineering records and files. 
  • Prepare civil engineering and land development projects’ cost estimates. 
  • Review land development applications and submittals, including parcel and subdivision maps, improvement plans, for conformance with local codes and regulations and design principles. 
  • Process permits required for public works’ projects. 
  • Perform field inspections of public works’ construction projects. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 


  • Strong AutoCAD skills, experience with other computer-aided design technology and techniques, and general computer background. 
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to public works administration, design, and construction. 
  • Understanding and knowledge of construction drawings and detailing.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, construction technology or a related field from an accredited college or university. 
  • 5+ years of experience in public works’ engineering, including design, drafting, land development/mapping review, and/or construction inspection. 

Working Conditions

  • Working with detailed, finely printed documents. 
  • May require driving to job sites and visiting clients. 
  • May require sitting for long periods of time.
