Summary

CSG Consultants, Inc. is offering a unique and exciting position with an opportunity for growth as a structural engineer. The Associate Structural Transportation Engineer is a mid-level position in our engineering department, responsible for engineering work related to the planning, design, and construction support of various public works projects; e.g., bridges, retaining walls, tie-back walls, soil-nail walls, box culverts and other non-building structures. Under the direction and supervision of project managers, an Associate Structural Transportation Engineer performs complex engineering work and acts as supervisor to engineers and/or technical staff. Interested candidates must have a willingness to perform general engineering tasks supporting project managers and project engineers as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural calculations, develop plans, engineering estimates and specifications for the construction of public works improvement projects including bridges, retaining walls, box culverts and non-building structures.
  • Knowledge of Caltrans Bridge design and construction standards and California Building Code.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings, documents and geotechnical reports.
  • Oversee work performed by entry-level engineers.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets and assist with project proposals.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university. (Required)
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification. (Required)
  • Well versed in the principles and practices of engineering and applicable laws and codes related to public works projects with a high level of independent judgment.
  • 3+ years of work experience as an Assistant Engineer or equivalent in the field of structural design.
  • Experience of structural analysis and design programs, e.g., SAP, Enercalc, Retainpro, Mathcad, Excel and AutoCAD.
  • California PE License is desired but not required.
  • Experience with methods, materials and techniques used in the design and construction of structural transportation projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Working with detailed, finely printed documents.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment when dealing with deadlines and multiple projects.
